Shopping in Meran
The Laubengasse is still the pulse of trade and the lifeline of Merano's entire commercial activity.
Especially as long as the town on the Passer was the capital of Tyrol, in the second half of the 13th century and in the 14th century, trade and crafts took place under the arcades.
Today, this area has expanded to include the entire city centre, Freiheitsstraße, Rennweg and the surrounding streets and alleyways. Hence the special flair of the city centre, where everyone meets to do business or socialise.
Die Laubengasse is a sight in its own right thanks to its varied architecture with stylistic features from a wide range of eras (from the Middle Ages to the present day), the structure of the arched arcades and the chequered history of this central shopping street.
15 to 20 minutes walk to the centre, or city bus transfer line no. 4 takes you to the centre.
